Rewilding: a pioneering approach to nature conservation

As part of our commitment to supporting innovation in environmental protection, we are proud to support rewilding, a pioneering approach to nature conservation. Rewilding consists of systematically transforming vast land areas into wild environments to bring back biodiversity, counter climate change and preserve traditional, nature-based ways of living.

We are committed to financing the rewilding efforts of the Snowchange Co-operative in Selkie, eastern Finland, to transform the poisoned moon scape of a former peat extraction site into an emerging and thriving ecosystem full of life welcoming thousands of birds and other animals and serving as an important carbon sink. The learnings from the site in Finland can contribute to the success of other rewilding sites around the world.

To support Rewilding efforts more broadly, we are also providing pro bono legal advice to Snowchange Co-operative, Rewilding Europe, The Wildlife Trusts and Rewilding Britain, four organizations which are instrumental in spreading the rewilding approach across Europe.
