Aaron focuses his practice on regulatory and grants management issues facing educational institutions. He has advised school districts, institutions of higher education, and nonprofits on federal student aid, school finance, audit findings, and distance education programs.
Before joining Hogan Lovells, Aaron practiced education law at a nationally recognized education regulatory and legislative practice, and worked at the D.C. Office of the State Superintendent of Education as a compliance officer.
Aaron earned his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School, his M.S. in education from Simmons University, and a B.A. in biology and studio art from the College of the Holy Cross. He is also a Certified Grants Management Specialist.
While in law school, Aaron established the first internship program for students with autism at the N. J. Superior courts. He also led a ten-person team as an editor for the American Intellectual Property Law Association Quarterly Journal with a focus on emerging issues in patent law.
He is a certified grants management specialist, which is a certification from the National Grants Management Association that provides formal recognition of professional competency in the full lifecycle of grants management. As such, Aaron provides advice to clients on federal grants management regulations.
In 2023, Aaron was appointed to The Florida Bar’s substantive law committee for education. The Education Law Committee publishes The Florida Bar’s Education Journal, provides legislative and practice updates to members of The Florida Bar, and hosts an annual seminar discussing education law issues targeted to attorneys representing or employed by public and private universities, four-year colleges, community colleges, public and private schools, charter schools, and accrediting agencies. The committee also provides a path to Board Certification in Education Law.
